My Coaching Timeline
I have always had a passion for coaching/teaching from a young age. Being the oldest of three boys, I would “spur” my brothers along (most of the time ending in a wrestling match). We were raised in an athletic household with our Dad being an Athletic Director and Head basketball Coach for as long as we can remember.
We used to run basketball plays in the living room on the Nerf hoop that hung on the China cabinet (which we figured out later was a bad idea.) During those years, I saw first-hand how coaching improved lives both on and off the basketball court.
After graduating from high school, I received a basketball scholarship with Judson University in the suburbs of Chicago. The next several years were years of wondering and trying to discover what my unique gifts and abilities were. Over the course of the next ten years I began to hone in on my strengths and abilities.
One of the greatest discoveries for me was in taking the Strength Finder 2.0 test. It revealed to me my inborn strengths I had assumed and not cultivated for far too long.
I entered the recruiting profession in 2003 and began to fall in love with the profession. Helping improve careers became a new found passion of mine. However, after 7 years of placing accounting professionals in various roles I began to explore even further.
At the beginning of the recession in 2008, there were more candidates then I had the time to talk with 1-on-1 about how they could navigate during tough times and have a competitive edge over others. So, I began to blog the tips, strategies and techniques that I had learned over the last several years. I want to pass on what I had learned in an effort to be a help to a wider range of candidates.
Industry average told me that I would only successfully place between 10-22% of the candidates that I met. I wanted to do more and blogging became a new way to get my information out to a wider audience.
Today I have the privilege of working in my strengths to deliver content that can help improve careers in Accounting & Finance.
