I realize that you may not be a religious person. I understand that this blog is visited by thousands a day and everyone will have differing spiritual beliefs. That being said, I have had a few recent conversations about this topic with coaching clients so I thought I would put it out there to benefit others.
My relationship with God plays an important role in my life. It is more than just something I do on Sundays. Jesus is more than a just a story. His thoughts, ways, and promises invade every part of my life. He is not a crutch to lean on. He is not a rabbit’s foot to rub for good luck. He is more than just an information booth when I have questions. He is someone I can depend on. He is always on time. Nothing takes Him by surprise. The older I get, the more I know I can trust Him.
If you are a follower, then I hope this blog post brings comfort to you. If you are out of work or even under-employed, then take these 4 truths to heart. Write them down on a 3×5 card and read them daily if you need to.
1. He already knows where your next opportunity is. This can certainly take the ease off of facing an interview. It doesn’t mean you do not put your best foot forward. It is comforting to know that He goes before us. He has perspective when we do not. Maybe He is working right now on opening up the perfect job opportunity for you. Wait on His timing.
2. He has already promised to provide for you. There are many verses in Scripture that make certain that God cares for us. If He takes care of the sparrow, He will take care of you, friend.
Matthew 10:29-31 tells us “What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.”
3. He isn’t finished with you yet. God has a plan and a purpose for you life. What an awesome thought to think that God can use us to fulfill a purpose in this world. You were not an accident. You were born for a purpose. He has promised to us that He will finish what He started and I believe Him.
Ephesians 2:10 says “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
4. He is active even when He seems silent. It can bring comfort to your heart to know that God is working even when you cannot see Him. You can trust His heart when you can’t see His hand. The book of Esther in the Bible is a great reminder of this truth. The word “God” is not mentioned one time in the book. Yet, when you read the story you will be convinced as I am that God was still at work.
God is still at work in your life. He may seem silent at the moment, but when you get to the other side you will see what He has been up to.
When I am struggling and going through a challenging time. I often pray and ask God to give me the faith I have in Him whenever I’m on the “other side” of things. What often happens is we live in worry, doubt, discouragement, and confusion. Then when God comes through for us we exclaim, ” I knew I could trust Him. He always comes through. Isn’t God good?”
Are you in the midst of a storm in your life right now? Ask God for the “after the storm” faith.
